My gun took a bath today...

Kinja'd!!!

In 500 rounds of .45 ACP.

The local range was selling boxes of this stuff. 9mm and .45 ACP. They also had 1000 rounds of 9mm.

$200 for 500 rounds of .45? Yes please.

I have a feeling you might feel that way because of the wrap-around grip. Makes it a bit wider at this angle, which give the illusion the grip is shorter. Maybe.

Either way it's a standard 7-round clip.

Meh, $.40 a round? Just three years ago I could buy reloads for $.31 cents a round. So, its an ok price, but not great.

Ah yes but whose were pre-panic prices. Now you're lucky if you find anything sub $.50 a round.

I really wish I could just go to the store or range and have a good time, but Canada's to busy making owners criminals overnight.

I'm just waiting on the weather to warm up here so I can re-load the 1000 rounds I have in my shop. God it's been so long since I've been to the range, I'm ready for winter to be over.

It was at the indoor range Blu Core. I live in Colorado Springs but gladly drive there for the range. The people there are nice and the wait is never long for non-members (me). Every range where I live forces people to be members to use it. Since I have gone to a range twice in a year, it's not really worth it for me.

Really? What kind of gun laws do you have up north? I keep hearing rumors that a lady in our congress is pushing a ban on semi-automatic rifles...which would include a great many guns... which would anger me.

I usually just go up somewhere secluded in the mountains for shooting, though my CCW class was at a out door range that a guy has on his propperty in the middle of no where (don't recall where now) but seemed like somewhere that he wouldn't charge much to use

I still need to send everything in through the sheriffs office to get my actual permit, and we need to find a new one now it seems, seeing as usually go up the Canyon towards Estes park..but..seeing as that flooded, and now isn't open all the time, probably need a new spot, lol

Most recently they are considering banning the Swiss Arms rifles ($4k+ or so), before guns have been banned without compensation, most likely these ones too.

As I was writing this, I looked for a link, a short quick read providing a glimpse into our gun laws...

we can't have handguns in this commie-lovin paradise. I dream of the day when I can hold and shoot a model 29.

I assume police still have handguns? I have a feeling the US of A would have a big shit storm if they banned handguns...I don't think it would be possible actually. The cost of taking everyone's handguns would be insane.

Kinja'd!!!0

Weird that they are only targeting those guns. You'd think they would target glocks too since it is an easy conversion to automatic. Granted I think there are some simple conversions to automatic for most semi-auto weapons if you know where to look.

Kinja'd!!!0

Yeah police do but so do criminals because criminals don't follow laws obviously. Be happy you have the privilege to carry. Do you carry? Open or concealed? If I became an American, could I carry a revolver on my hip like a cowboy? Sorry I've always wondered that.

Kinja'd!!! 66671 - 200 [METRIC] my dash > Enginerrrrrrrrr
03/31/2014 at 22:09

Kinja'd!!!1

Well I think they've banned specific, different guns before. Also, Glocks and pistols in general are part of a different category, and are harder to attain in the first place. While those Swiss Arms are part of the lowest level I think (Semi-auto, long barrel, etc.)

Kinja'd!!! Enginerrrrrrrrr > 1337HPMustang
03/31/2014 at 23:14

Kinja'd!!!0

Exactly, which is why hell would be raised if they tried to ban handguns in the USA. There are just too many citizens here with handguns, and our "stand your ground" laws are pretty strong. I don't carry, but I am probably going to get my concealed carry permit eventually. I really doubt there are many open-carry places in the USA. I think national forests are ok...but I doubt much else is. If you go on a hike you could live your cowboy dreams haha. Otherwise it's gotta be covered up.

Actually a lot of states are open carry states. Few people openly carry, but it is generally legal in most states. Here is a map showing states that allow open carry that I found on the googles. The map is from OpenCarry.org.

Kinja'd!!!

Concealed carry I think in now legal in all 50 states, but the ease of getting a permit varies significantly. A lot of states have "shall issue" CPL laws, where as long you pass the background check and can legally own a handgun they must issue a CPL assuming you pass any required courses.

Other states (CA, NJ, IL, HI, maybe some others) "allow" concealed carry. But actually getting a permit is expensive, time consuming and pretty much impossible.

And there are states that are somewhere in the middle. They may not have "shall issue" laws on the books, but generally they will issue CPL's unless the local Chief LEO is a prick. From what I've read NY is like that. Pretty much impossible to own a handgun in NYC, but if you are in rural NY state they will generally issue a carry permit.

That's good info to know. So... checking out the map. I live in CO and it says "Open Carry Friendly State". So does that mean I would have to get an Open-carry permit elsewhere? Or would CO actually issue me one?
I suppose I could just look it up, but you seem pretty knowledgeable on this.

For specifics I'd look at your states website. They are usually OK when it comes to searching for the specific laws that you need to find out about. I know my states gun laws pretty good as I got a CPL and knew open carry is mostly legal here. Since I'm not a CO resident and not familiar with your laws I don't want to give you bad advice and get you into trouble.

The NRA website has pretty good summaries of gun laws state by state, so that is a good place to start. But they will also refer you to your home states website too, as that is the only thing that really matters. Here is the NRA website that has state by state summaries. At the bottom they've got an interactive map, or you can click through to CO for a little more detailed info.
